Set your family up for success during Montana Farmers Union’s Family Farm Succession Planning Institute – free to MFU member families or $50 for non-member families – to be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 2, at the Yogo Inn in Lewistown following MFU’s 110th Annual State Convention.

Featured speakers are:

  • What happens when there is no plan, MSU Professor Marsha Goetting, PhD, CFP©
  • Having difficult discussions, Intersections Consulting Owner John Beranek
  • Family financial management, Ranch Legacy Founder Cat Kelly
  • Succession planning next steps & switching roles, Brent Turner, author of Peace of Land: What Every Farm and Ranch Family Needs to Know About Legacy, Land, and Letting Go

The daylong workshop includes a mixture of presentations, individual reflection, and private multi-generational family and farm discussions. Following the in-person event, participants will have access to virtual check-ins for four months following the institute to allow for questions, requests for help, and to celebrate the establishment of plans. Participants also will have access to an online library of tools and resources.
