New MFU Big Horn County Local supports family farms, ranches

Montana Farmers Union is pleased to announce the formation of the new Big Horn County Local, also known as The Cow Belles.

As a Local, member producers can more directly engage with the non-partisan, grassroots organization. The Local designation also allows the group to tap into MFU’s broader resources focused on education, legislation, and cooperation.

“I was approached to start an agriculture group in our area. Many years ago, our parents and grandparents were part of the original Cow Belles, and I have good memories of them all. I was so happy to see so many people come together again. We’re excited to be a Local and to support all generations, from grandparents to grandchildren, across Big Horn County,” said Shannon Pitsch, who serves as the Local’s president.

“As an active leader of various youth organizations in our community that promote agriculture and the values instilled by us to be good stewards of the land, I believe that partnering with MFU will enrich our efforts to promote ag, family, and sustainability for our community,” Treasurer Daina Green added.

The Big Horn County Local officers are: Shannon Pitsch, president; Paula Small-Plenty, vice president; Daina Green, treasurer; and Bailey Chalfant, secretary.
