MFU Ambassadors, other staff members, and board members will be at county fairs across the state – find them at www.montanafarmersunion.com > About Us > Board & Staff and connect during your fair to learn more about how MFU can support your farm and ranch and rural community through its efforts in education, legislation, and cooperation!
You will find MFU staff at local fairs helping in various ways from judging projects to doing interviews to financially sponsoring events. MFU has demonstrated longstanding support for 4-H and FFA, and fair time is just one of the ways MFU supports the youth leadership programs throughout the year.
“4-H and FFA are programs empowering the next generation of agriculturalists to step into leadership roles. Essential to the future of rural communities, we need these young leaders to ensure the next generation of farmers and ranchers have communities to raise their families in,” MFU’s Member Services and Government Affairs Director Rachel Prevost said. “MFU knows the value of these programs in developing these necessary skills.”
As part of its commitment to education and support for young and beginning farmers and ranchers, MFU offers $100 Sentence Grants to 4-H clubs for projects, awarding more than $24,000 since the micro grant program’s inception in 2024. Another $30,000 has been awarded to FFA for $2,500 New Chapter Sponsorships since 2024. Additional sponsorships to the youth programs have totaled nearly $20,000 to 4-H since 2024 and roughly $17,000 to FFA over the same time span alone, illustrating MFU’s continued support for the programs and Montana’s up and coming producers.
