MFU brings ag education to Montana classrooms: Now scheduling visits for remainder of 2026 school year

Montana Farmers Union is engaging Montana students with interactive, in-person lessons about agriculture through MFU’s school visit program and is now scheduling in-person, educational visits to Montana classrooms starting February 2 and for the remainder of this school year.

“The school visits are a great opportunity for incorporating some real-world applications of math and science through agriculture. The lessons are very hands-on and engaging to appeal to a wide range of students,” MFU’s Education Director Jodi Koterba said.

Classroom visits are part of the grassroots organization’s commitment to education and consist of MFU staff presenting interactive, 45-minute lessons targeted to standards for all K-12 grade levels. There is a predetermined set of lessons for grades K-6 for teachers to choose from to best fit their curriculums.

MFU conducted 16 school visits, engaging 1160 students with agriculture during the 2024-25 school year at various locations around the state. There are already 20-plus schools scheduled for visits for the 2025-26 school year, illustrating the desire to bring ag into classrooms.
