MFU is the states oldest and largest grassroots organization that advocates for family farmers, ranchers, and rural communities. Join our convention and be a part of the growing community fighting to ensure family farm agriculture is a way of life for generations to come.
Sneak peek of what's ahead...
- Pre-Convention farm tour on Thursday, Oct. 30
- Tour a permaculture fruit orchard west of Lewistown, followed by a tour at the Wickens Ranch and their new Savory Hub.
- Transportation is provided, with 45 seats available.
- A farm to table dinner will follow at Brooks Market back in Lewistown
- The tour will run from about 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (bus will load at the Yogo Inn at 12:45)
- Please wear footwear appropriate for walking around outside. We encourage folks to prepare for cooler temps as well with jacket, hat, and gloves.
- MFU Convention official kick-off at 9 a.m. on Oct. 31
- Producer-members will discuss, review, and vote on MFU policy.
- Education sessions on agriculture, coops, food systems, rural mental health, beginning farmer and rancher resources and more.
- Election of board members and leadership
- Poster Presentations and chat with MSU Sustainable Food Systems Capstone Students
- Delicious Montana made meals
- Meet with vendors and expand your network

- Post-Convention: Succession Planning Institute - Nov. 2, 2025 (Sunday after Convention) at the Yogo Inn
- MFU is working to provide a detail-oriented and intensive deep dive into succession planning for farm and ranch families. More details to come.

Born and raised in Montana, Jason DeShaw is a national award-winning mental health speaker and country singer. He grew up working on a farm and ranch and has recorded seven albums and toured eight countries. Behind the scenes, Jason nearly lost his life to mental illness and addiction, and is living proof that hope is worth believing in. Jason received the Champions Award in Washington D.C. from the National Alliance on Mental Illness for “exhibiting courage, leadership and service on behalf of all people living with mental illness.”
