2024 Foundation Grants & Scholarships Open

$1,500 to Choteau County Schools to expand their garden area that contributes to their food service program with the purchase of supplies and signage. The project aims to educate students about the basics of soil science and a simple irrigation system, while using the food they grow as part of the Farm to School program that is already in place at the school.
$2,000 to Belt School for the purchase of new shop equipment to provide students with hands-on learning experiences relevant to agriculture. Currently, the state of some shop tools prevents students from doing more advanced projects.
$5,000 Hobson Schools upgraded shop equipment with a CNC Plasma System. This allows students to gain advanced skills for after graduation.
$6,500 to North Star Schools for a four-season greenhouse to use for hands-on experiences for elementary and high school students and for use in the food service program./h5>
$5,000 to Lake County Community Development Corp toward a cooperative run poultry processing facility.
$6,500 to Divide Schools for a greenhouse to educate and provide students with fresh produce. They do not have a lunch program and students are in a limited access area.
$10,000 Power Schools to purchase and install a walk-in freezer. The school launched a Farm-to-School program to showcase local grown goods.

In conjuction with the new MT Premium Processing Cooperative, MFU is supporting new career opportunities and regional food systems development.

FEED THE GUARD

$50,000 of nutrious, boxed meals were provided to troops station in the Capital in 2021 through MFU and Farmers Union Enterprises.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

Over $15,000 in grants and assistance have been provided to local organizations, small business and rural development projects in 2022. The next deadline to apply is Sept 1, 2022.
