“Solarize Central Montana” Kicks off on Feb 9

Central Montana Resource Council recently announced the launch of their “Solarize Central Montana” campaign, slated for February 9, 2022 – November 2022. This exciting new program streamlines the process of getting started with solar, helps answer a wide range of questions, and connects participants with an experienced, reputable solar installation company that offers competitive, transparent pricing.

CMRC members have engaged in a lengthy and in-depth competitive process to select the installer for Solarize Central Montana. This provides participants with the simplicity of a pre-selected contractor, and the assurance that the contractor was chosen from a range of certified companies across Montana.

The solar installer selected by CMRC for the campaign will offer free Solar Assessments at your location over the next few months. Sign-ups for assessments are available at  https://northernplains.org/solarize-central-mt/ and at the virtual Kick off event Feb 9, 2022. As part of the on-site solar assessment, your assessor will provide specific information on your roof’s viability and provide cost estimates, based on your requirements. Note that signing up for a free assessment does not obligate applicants to move forward on a solar installation.

Anyone living in Fergus or Judith Basin counties, who owns their roof or commercial property, is eligible to participate in the program. Solar assessments on homes and businesses will begin after February 2022, and installations are expected to start in late Spring.

Solarize Central Montana Kick off will be held 6-8pm on Wednesday Feb 9, via Zoom, and is free and open to all. Andrew Valainis, executive director of Montana Renewable Energy Association, will cover the process of going solar, an overview of cost and technology trends over last several years, and available financing and incentive options. The installer selected for the Solarize campaign by CMRC will introduce the company and explain how the assessment/installation process works. Representatives of NorthWestern Energy and Fergus Electric Cooperative will be on hand to discuss how net metering with a utility works. Finally, a QA session lets attendees get their questions answered by a panel of the evening’s speakers.
