Author Sarah Vogel Joins MFU Book Club for Q&A

“The Farmer’s Lawyer” author Sarah Vogel joined Montana Farmers Union Book Club members for the group’s first virtual meeting last week.
Vogel spoke about why she wrote the book and encouraged participants about what comes next for agriculture.
“I wanted to write the book because I didn’t want the lessons from the 1980s to be lost,” Vogel said, adding she sorted through boxes of documents and notes to recreate the years during which she represented farmers in a class action lawsuit against the federal government.
When asked how to help people see agriculture as infrastructure just as important as roads and water, Vogel said “double down” on supporting candidates who support agriculture.
“Ask that question of whoever is running for office and wants your vote,” she said.
Vogel encouraged Book Club participants to be involved in their communities.
“If you start off doing the right thing, even if you’re alone, you won’t be alone long,” Vogel said.
