Member Profile: Meet the Fauth Family

In this edition it is our pleasure to introduce the Fauth family. KJ Fauth and has wife Lindsay own and operate Fauth Insurance in Billings. They specialize in Home, Auto, Farm & Ranch, Commercial, Life, & Crop Insurance. In this article KJ shares with us how he and Lindsey blend family life with business and ranching.

1.) Can you share with us your background?I grew up on a cow/calf ranch south of Musselshell, MT and graduated from Melstone High School. After high school, I attended and graduated from MSUBillings. My wife Lindsay grew up on a ranch east of Melstone, and also graduated from Melstone High School and MSU Billings. Lindsay and I have been married for 13 years. We have two children, Keeley and Kasen. We have several barn cats, two dogs, a border collie named Jaci, and a blue heeler named Dally, and several horses.

2. What was it about the insurance business that attracted you to the industry?
I got into the insurance business due to needing to be home more, as well as needing to be more accessible at my family’s ranch.I had a fence contracting business for many years, but the travel took me away more often than I liked. For nearly a decade, I was a subcontracting agent in Billings. In October of 2016, I opened my own Farmers Union Insurance office, and the rest is history. Lindsay has a strong administrative background with past jobs at an assisted care facility and an eye clinic. She stayed at home with our kids for about seven years. Since opening the office, she has worked alongside me.

3.)What do you like most about your occupation? What I like most about working in the insurance industry is that no one day is the same. Insurance is something that has a lot of moving parts and I enjoy that.
Our office also offers a vast array of insurance products, so we have something to offer just about anyone. This is very fulfilling, being able to help families protect what is important to them.We still have strong ties to agriculture, being very active on our family ranch. We have some Simmental cattle of our own. We also sell registered bulls each spring.

4.)What advice would you give to someone getting into the insurance business? My advice is to work hard and be patient. Insurance is a business you are always learning, and must be consistent and disciplined with
your practice. We really enjoy it! Insurance is one of those professions you either enjoy it, or you don’t.

5.)What does your family like to do for fun? Our family rides and works on the ranch in most of our free time. Our kids also love to fish and just be outside, which is great because it is something we all can do together as a family. The great thing about rural Montana is everyone is family, which is huge with our business. We have an abundant amount of support. We in turn, are able to support youth events and other local charities. I think our kids favorite vacation spot is Fort Peck, which is great as we have a lot of family around that area.
