Montana Farmers Union Awards Scholarships to Youth Leaders

Great Falls, MT- Montana Farmers Union is proud to announce this year’s scholarship recipients. MFU offers seven scholarships each year totaling $3,000. This year’s winners were selected because of their outstanding contributions to the organization as youth leaders.

The 2017 scholarship recipients are: Alana Green of Great Falls; Ally Poindexter of Geraldine; Cory Kelly of Chester; Annie Shane of Floweree and Violet Green of Great Falls. All of the recipients have served as deans for MFU’s Arrowpeak Summer Leadership Camp and are members of Montana Farmers Union.

  • Alana Green received the Cascade County Farmers Union Scholarship. Alana attends the College of Great Falls and is studying to become a physical therapy assistant.
  • Ally Poindexter received the Chouteau County Farmers Union Scholarship. She is attending State University of New York at Oswego and is studying graphic design and creative writing.
  • Cory Kelly has received the Montana Farmers Union and John Korsbeck Memorial Scholarship. Cory will attend Montana Tech and major in environmental engineering.
  • Annie Shane received the Bud Daniels Memorial Scholarship. She is attending Loyola Marymount University and majoring in health and human science and psychology.
  • Violet Green received the Montana Farmers Union and Headquarters Local Farmers Union of Cascade County Scholarships. She is attending the College of Great Falls and majoring in elementary education.

“We are pleased to recognize these students for their excellence in education and their contribution to Montana Farmers Union as youth leaders,” said President Alan Merrill. “These students are excellent role models in their communities. We are proud to have played a role in their success.”
