Summer Camp Season is Almost Here

Come for the Mountains . . . Stay for the People

GREAT FALLS, MT (May 19, 2008) – Montana Farmers Union’s  (MFU) 2008 camp season theme, “Come for the Mountains . . . Stay for the People,” describes the experience awaiting statewide youth interested in our overnight camps.

Building future leaders and forging lasting friendships is a focus of the camps.  The camps provide time for campfires, dances, art and crafts, laughter, team building, nature hikes, and sports.  Cooperative teamwork and leadership skills influence all camp activities.

Three of the overnight camps are at MFU’s Arrowpeak Camp, located in the Highwood Mountains approximately 40 miles east of Great Falls.  A fourth camp is coordinated by the Hill County Farmers Union and is held at Kiwanis Camp south of Havre.

Once again, Montana Farmers Union also is offering FREE statewide day camps for children ages 5-12 years.  The camps run from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and offer a fun time packed with games, workshops, crafts and songs.

All camps are made possible by a grant from the CHS Foundation, by Montana Farmers Union, local cooperatives, Farmers Union Insurance agents, and MFU members.

Senior Leadership Camp is June 14-18 for ages 15-19, Teen Leadership Camp is July 20-24 for ages 13-15, and Junior Leadership Camp is June 28-July 2 for ages 8-12.  All are held at Arrowpeak Camp.  Hill County Camp is June 5-8 for ages 8-14 at Camp Kiwanis.
